House Convention-Princeton | Comments Off | Onward
Monday, September 1, 2008 at 02:29PM Dear Friends,

Much as I would like, I am unable to continue posting on The Daily Blog as I have accepted an additional new position in my school district. I am thoroughly delighted about the advancement and have been working the entire summer to have everything in readiness for House Convention so that I can devote my time and energy where I most need to at the current time.
We most definitely will be posting updates and information on contests, special events and ways in which you can still be involved in the planning of House Convention.
We are planning on a fan-tastic art auction this year and we are going to include several of our wonderful fan artists in the mix.
You may have an opportunity to commission their work(s) and/or bid on their gorgeous art.
We are also planning on our fan-fic contest which has had a wonderful response from so many quarters. If you go to the navigation bar on this site, you will see the page(s) for The Fan-Fic Contest as well as "House Heals"-our present to cast/crew of "House". Anyone may most their story there and we thank everyone who has already shared and submitted their way in which HOUSE has helped you.
Wishing everyone a fabulous Season V and remember...there are at least THREE (3) more Seasons of HOUSE. We are all incredibly lucky fans and this allows us so much more time to plan for The Convention we ALL want to see. A "real" Convention in the ONLY venue location that HOUSE can call home....Princeton.
Please feel free to write/contact us with any ideas you may have. We'd love to hear from you:)

House Convention-Princeton | Comments Off | August Fan Update Letter
Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 05:38PM
Dear Friends,
As the originators of the concept of a House M.D. Convention, we have successfully built -with your enthusiastic support and help- a fan Convention during the past sixteen (16) months.
Our concept of House Convention always centered on the involvement of the entire House MD family: cast/crew,
Writers, producers, directors and designers of the show.
With significant help from our partners The Princeton Regional Chamber Of Commerce,Nami Mercer (House Charity Tees), Community Blood Services, The American Red Cross, Princeton University and many of its student organizations as well as numerous additional Princeton connections, we were able to plan for this event and everything is in place for a true "House" fan Convention for all.
"The Office" Convention which began planning ahead of us but around a similar time, served as a model for a successful TV fan Convention which included everyone involved with the show as well as the support of NBC Universal, the show's network.
During this past year, several POTW (patients of the week), authors, writers, bloggers and all manner of performers have been in touch with us to say that they'd love to participate in this event- even following what was a most devastating writers strike.
Certainly it was clear from the information we received that this particular year was not optimal timing for such an event with Fox involvement . But when we started planning this event, we were ALL under the impression that this was the last season of House. However we all now know. that there will be at least three more seasons. This is great news for everyone and shows that with perseverance and determination, we may get what we want AND what we need.
To us, anything short of this type of convention is not what is in our hearts- some potw, some cast. We know that the Princeton venue is perfect and that the cast/crew are in NYC during the year. With three (3) more seasons we have asked Fox to consider the fans that support their work globally, to whom House is not just trite TV and who are eager to attend from all over the world. We have asked them not to disappoint you.
We continue to sponsor contests and participation with our fans through the multiple charities and events we are involved with.
Our website, which has connected us to fans from around the world, is at:
www.houseconvention.squarespace.com. It has seen a huge growth spurt as fans and others have contributing their time and talents from all corners of the globe. If you haven't visited and are reading this letter from another site, please do so. We will continue to keep you updated on our events, contests and will post any relevant updates.
We feel that House fans deserve a convention that is at least as great as the Office Convention was-inclusive of the entire world of "House" that only Fox could bring to it.
While we wait for Fox's convenience, we take comfort in these astute sayings:
“The minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you settled for.”-Maureen Dowd
Once you say you’re going to settle for second, that’s what happens to you in life.-President John F. Kennedy
Warmest Regards To All and thank you for your continued enthusiastic support!
Pam

House M.D. Caricaturist
Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 08:24PM A call came in for a caricature artist at a convention for a company trying to promote a new brand of organic shampoo (which nelson later discovered he was allergic to.) During this period the caricature bug really took a big bite out Nelson. One artist that has been inspirational to him is Jan Opdebeeck.
He has plunged headfirst into the caricature business and can be found drawing caricatures somewhere every week. Nelson also does studio caricatures and illustration in his spare time.
House Convention Princeton is delighted to be able to display this caricature of Dr. Gregory House by Nelson Santos.

Our Viewing Party for The Survival Project: UNICEF
Monday, July 7, 2008 at 06:12PM Last night CNN ran a special “The Survival Project: One Child at a Time” hosted by Dr. Sanjay Gupta, the Atlanta neurosurgeon who doubles as CNN’s medical journalist.
The one hour program covered UNICEF-related children’s programs around the world. The website ("Impact Your World") has this link. British reporter Dan Rivers appeared on some segments.

The two biggest causes of mortality in children in developing countries is malaria, and water-borne disease.
The program started by showing a clean water project in Laos. It then showed a detailed discussion of HIV prevention in Peru, which in general is not as heavily affected as Africa. All pregnant women coming to the clinic are tested. If they test positive, they are not allowed to breast-feed, and they sometimes receive Ceseareans, which reduces the likelihood of transmission of the virus to the child during birth. The program has been quite successful in reducing the number of children with HIV infection.
The program showed health and feeding stations in rural Ethiopia. A nurse or assistant measures the circumference of the child’s upper arm; below a certain value the child is considered to be in salvation and taken to an emergency feeding station. Visually, that is a striking test. Thousands of women are trained as health care workers.
The film then showed a 12 year old boy in Baghdad who sold gasoline to support his younger siblings. His mother was widowed, as are 70000 women in Iraq, which has 14 million children.
The show featured brief appearances of some celebrities, including Clay Aiken and Nicole Ritchie.
The show presented some statistics on how much can be achieved with 50 cents a day from everyone who can afford it.
Thank you to everyone who made our Viewing Party such a big success! We sent off our contributions to UNICEF immediately following the program.
It was wonderful to finally meet so many people from Princeton who have been so helpful in planning this very special event. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all!
There's Always A Band!
Friday, July 4, 2008 at 08:28PM Happy July 4th of July Weekend To Everyone. One of the great American traditions over this holiday weekend is to see and hear a hometown band and LOOK WHAT WE HAVE FOR YOU!!
This from The Princeton University Band Website
The Princeton University Band, founded in 1919, is one of less than a dozen scramble bands in the country. A "scramble band" is kind of like a "marching band", only with less formality, more funniness, and Marching more fun — in other words, better. The PUB has been known to march on occasion, but we're more likely to amble or saunter around. We're not your high school band. During our halftime shows, we get in and out of formation by scrambling. Hence the term "scramble band."
The Princeton University Marching Band has won numerous awards, appeared on TV and been featured all over the globe!
Ordering Albums
In the spring of 2007,they recorded a new self-titled album, and it is now available to order! In addition, "Songs to Beat Yale By", their previous album, is still avaliable.
